The Screwdriver antenna has been around for some years now in the USA. First developed by Don Johnson ( W6AAQ ) and has proved itself to be a very versatile piece of equipment for HF use.

The SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER is also capable of giving this performance with a very aesthetically pleasing appeal.

The SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER is made from high quality components, giving high transmission efficiency at all operating bands and providing the lowest possible VSWR where ever it is used and in any conditions.

The SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER is very easily installed on any Vehicle or Platform and gives exceptional TX and RX results in both mobile and Shack.

The Diagram to the left shows the principle of the SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER operation, with the aerial extended to its maximum length to achieve operation on 3Mhz and adjusted by an internal motor to reduce the decoupling length for use on 30MHz .

A highly efficient antenna, the SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER is both sturdy and reliable in use, providing its user with the best possible working capability on all operating bands and modes in its range.

With the ease of adjustment provided by the SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER, achieving the best all round performance is a breeze, full automatic adjustment is done by the operation of a switch, mounted in the vehicle or shack, which raises or lowers the antenna coil as and when required, though the bandwidth provided by this aerial should mean that only slight adjustment is necessary toward the end of each operating band.

The SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER will work quietly and effectively of any 12 volt DC supply, either a car battery or a power supply, thus making it truly versatile for any purpose.

The 2 pictures to the left show the antenna at its lowest tuned frequency and its highest, the PVC tube providing adequate protection from the elements for the coil and motor assembly inside the antenna.

The base transformer on this model gives added performance to the SUFFOLK SCREWDRIVER providing an ideal tuning match on all frequencies.
